After Effects Handwriting Tutorial

I began by tracing a print out of the logo I wanted to apply the effect to. I then scanned that traced logo and adjusted the levels in Photoshop in order to make the black of the marker stand out in high contrast to the white paper.



In After Effects, I lined up the scanned logo with the original logo. Then I traced the logo with the pen tool creating a mask that matched the logo. I applied the stroke effect and animated it. I added the marker graphic and matched its movement to that of the stroke effect. Finally, I added in the hand!
